It is no secret that Walton County is known for its emerald waters and sugar white sand. Did you also know that South Walton is home to 15 named coastal dune lakes along the 26 miles of coastline. These lakes are a unique geographical feature and are only found here in Walton County, Madagascar, Australia, New Zealand, and Oregon! They are truly a unique piece of beauty, and we are privileged to get to say these rare lakes exist here at home. Since the coastal dune lakes are so rare, it is important that locals and visitors help protect the health and longevity of these unique ecosystems. If you spend any length of time along Scenic Hwy 30A you will notice just how beautiful these lakes can be, as well as a wide variety of activities that you can do on or around these lakes. Recreational activities may include kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, stand-up paddle board yoga, bird watching and fishing. There are also a wide variety of waterfront homes available for purchase, and many of which have views of the dune lakes, and the gulf. Doesn’t get much better than that!
