How did we get our sugar white sand?

Visitors flock to Destin & South Walton for our sugar white sands, turquoise waters and frequent sunshine, making our area a top destination to visit or purchase property in Florida. Have you ever wondered how the beaches along the Emerald Coast turned out so stunning? South Walton’s white beaches were created by the weathering of the Appalachian Mountains over millions of years. Particles of quartz from the mountain range washed into riverbeds, and eventually transported to the Gulf of Mexico. The flow of the water over such a long distance broke down these particles and buffed their edges, making the sand as fine as sugar when it finally made it’s home along the Florida Panhandle. The reflection of the sun on the white sandy bottom of the Gulf of Mexico creates the water’s brilliant turquoise hue. Our area has some of the cleanest, most beautiful beaches in the world, so it is no wonder why owning a beach home here is in high demand. I don’t know about you, but I could certainly wake up to this view for the rest of my life! For more information on how you can own a view like this, click here to see all of the available gulf front condos and homes along Florida’s spectacular Emerald Coast. The more you know about our gorgeous area, the more there is to appreciate!
