It’s finally here! Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival is a fun-filled weekend of all things pirate. The event is typically held the first full weekend in June each year. It all started out as a water skiing festival back in 1953, and has turned into one of the nation’s most popular longest-running pirate festivals.
The festival is located in Fort Walton Beach, Florida which is just a short drive from South Walton. Captain Billy Bowlegs and his Krewe will invade the Landing around 7 pm on Friday June 3rd, for their reconnaissance mission and a skirmish with the Mayor. The pirate invasion will be followed by live music, food and beverage vendors and fireworks at the Landing. The rest of the weekend is filled with boating events, more live music, a 5k run, an Inaugural Beer Tour, and even a torchlight parade!
The Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival is FREE for all ages, and depending on what type of fun you are looking for you will be sure to find it! Some of the events are more adult friendly then others so be sure to watch out for that if you plan on bringing little ones, but overall there is something for everyone to enjoy.
