Beach Themed DIY Projects

Now that the hustle and bustle of Spring Break along South Walton has slowed down a bit, it might be a great time for some fun beach themed DIY projects to give an area of your home a fresh new look. When you live near the beach it is almost expected to have some sort of beach themed decor, and what better way to show yours off by saying… “I made that”.  You can use just about anything you find around the house or outdoors from old crates, seashells, sand, driftwood and even lanterns. Here are a few beach themed DIY projects that we hope you will enjoy!

    Swimsuit Station

If you have kids this DIY project might be music to your ears. Family fun in the sun can also equate to messy, sandy bathrooms, and having a central place for your beach stuff will help you stay organized on those impromptu beach days. We found this great DIY Swimsuit Station by Living Well Mom that we hope you enjoy. It’s quite genius with all of the different cubicles for your beach gear. Of course since this is a DIY project you can tailor it to fit your needs and color scheme. This awesome swim station gives you a place to store clean towels, sunscreens, goggles, swimsuits, swim diapers and wipes in easy to access ways for the kids. Be sure to keep sunscreens and wipes at the top if you have little ones. Once your beach or pool day is over, the kids also know where to put their wet bathing suits and towels. Hopefully this will prevent the dreaded wet swimsuit on the bed situation.

    Supplies needed:

    • Wire cubes – Wire is good because you can also lay wet items on the top to dry!
    • Plastic bins
    • Labels
    • Command strip hooks
    • Laundry basket that fits inside the wire cube

    Driftwood Art

Are you one of those people who likes to collect driftwood from your beach walks? To some, this may look like trash, but for others it can be a gold mine of art supplies. Driftwood art in the Florida style beach cottage is a MUST when decorating! Storing bits and pieces from your beach walks over time will soon add up to enough to make some awesome driftwood art. Check out this Seahorse we found on Creative in Chicago for complete instructions on how to recreate trendy driftwood art.
