The 7th Annual Little Black Dress Party will take place tomorrow, Saturday May 21, 2016 at the Sandestin Linkside Exhibition Hall on the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort. This fun-filled event celebrates women’s heath initiatives while also raising money for local women in need. The event will feature a cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, entertainment by David Seering, and an auction.
One great aspect of this event is that all proceeds will benefit the White-Wilson Community Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization serving Okaloosa, Walton and Santa Rosa Counties. The number one goal of this community foundation is to insure that all women have access to life-saving health care services by service and education. Some of the services that this wonderful organization helps to provide are primary care visits, mammograms, cancer treatment, emergency care for rape victims, and even mental health medications. These necessary preventative health care measures are not always as attainable as you would think, and this event exists to insure that all women have access to good health.
In most households, women are the managers of the family – managing work, family schedules, and healthcare. Many of those same women forget about taking care of their own health. White-Wilson Medical Center has seen a decline in preventative health screenings. As the economic climate encourages us to do more with less, it is easy to put our health on the back burner…especially when your health insurance deductible has doubled or you lose your job or coverage.
